Vonn, Shiffrin, Ligety on U.S. Olympic ski team
Past Olympic medalists Lindsey Vonn, Mikaela Shiffrin, Ted Ligety and Andrew Weibrecht are among the 22 ski racers named to the U.S. Alpine team heading to the Pyeongchang Games.
U.S. Ski and Snowboard announced the roster Wednesday.
Three California-based skiers made the team — Bryce Bennett (Squaw Valley) and Mark Engel (Truckee) are on the 13-member men’s team and Stacy Cook (Mammoth Lakes) made the nine-member women’s team. Also, Reno’s Tim Jitloff was named to the men’s team.
Vonn won a downhill gold and super-G bronze at the 2010 Vancouver Games, then sat out the Sochi Olympics four years later because of a knee injury.
