Darren Aronofsky’s VR Series ‘Spheres’ Lands Record Sundance Deal
In an seven-figure historic acquisition, virtual reality studio CityLights has acquired the Darren Aronofsky-produced VR series “Spheres.”
Made for Facebook’s Oculus Rift device from director Eliza McNitt, the first episode of “Spheres” premiered in the VR Experiences section at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. It will roll out for Oculus users this year, and has plans for other unspecified distribution. The first episode is narrated by Jessica Chastain.
“‘Spheres’ explores the songs of the cosmos. Most people think space is silent — it’s not. We’re excited for CityLights to help bring this experience to the world as we pioneer a new path to create and distribute immersive stories,” McNitt said in a statement.
