Sharks’ Joe Thornton out several weeks with knee injury
Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said injured forward Joe Thornton was to undergo an MRI exam late Wednesday to determine the severity of a right-knee injury sustained late in Tuesday’s 5-4 overtime loss to Winnipeg.
Wilson said Thornton, second on the team is goals and points, would miss at least two weeks with the injury to his MCL. Typically, players miss 3-4 weeks if it’s a strain, but the 38-year-old future Hall of Famer could be out longer if a surgical procedure is required.
