Son not guilty by reason of insanity in Texas mom's death
HOUSTON (AP) — A college student has been found not guilty by reason of insanity in the 2016 fatal stabbing of his mother who served on a Houston-area school board.
A judge in Houston on Wednesday ruled 23-year-old Blake Jefferson must be confined to a state hospital and under the care of mental health experts.
The Texas Southern University student had been charged with murder in last December's slaying of his mom, 48-year-old Dedre Jefferson, at her home.
The victim was vice president of the Alief (AY'-leef) Independent School District board and a former teacher.
