Uber to boost driver pay for cancelled pickups
Uber is making changes to how its drivers are paid — and for once, drivers are happy with the new approach.
Drivers who have to cover extra long distances to pick up a passenger and whose rides are cancelled after a wait will receive standard time and distance rates for the extra time by late December, Uber said. The company also will increase the charges for wait times, which kick in after a driver waits two minutes for a fare. The company will also now incorporate tolls into fares.
At other times when Uber has increased its commission or decreased fares, drivers were livid about the reduction in their incomes.
