'There's not a big enough shower' to wash out the stench of Trump: Ex-GOP Lt. Governor
Former Republican Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan on Wednesday urged former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley not to endorse former President Donald Trump, as he predicted the party would have to significantly remake itself in the event that Trump again loses the presidential race.
Appearing on CNN, Duncan argued that President Joe Biden was a weak candidate for Democrats, but lamented the fact that those weaknesses were likely to be wiped out by his party once again nominating Trump.
"The next seven months are going to be absolutely brutal watching facts, figures and evidence come out that Donald Trump lied and tried to coerce people to do awful things," he said. "I mean, we're going to watch this continue to play out."
Duncan said that this is what made it so vital for Haley to refuse to endorse Trump and make the case that the party needs to go in another direction.

"I think Nikki Haley has to continue doing what she's done, that closing argument was spot on," he said. "She's done exactly what she needs to do, it needs to keep going. Because if I'm skating to where the puck is going in the Republican Party, Republicans are going to get beat, Joe Biden is going to limp his way into the White House again for a second term."
He then said that Haley would lose whatever clout she had to reshape a post-Trump GOP if she decided to bend the knee and give him her endorsement.
"So now we have a whole list of potential candidates that have endorsed Donald Trump and have to take a shower," he said. "There's not a big enough shower to wash Donald Trump off."
