German inflation negative in April as prices slip by 0.1%: stats office
Inflation in Germany turned negative in April, dragged down by falling energy prices, a preliminary estimate showed on Friday.
Correcting an estimate published the day before, the federal statistics Destatis calculated that Germany's national inflation yardstick, the consumer price index, eased by 0.1 percent April, instead of edging up by 0.1 percent as it had first said.
In March, the inflation rate in Europe's biggest economy had stood at 0.3 percent.
