Fighting has intensified along the Thai-Cambodian border, with heavy clashes resuming over the past week despite an October ceasefire. Each side accuses the other of reigniting the violence. The renewed hostilities have forced hundreds of thousands of civilians to flee, and Thailand has reported its first civilian casualties. At least nine Cambodian civilians have also been killed in this latest surge of fighting. Solange Mougin reports on the worsening humanitarian situation.

A small plane crash-landed on a Florida highway after both engines failed, striking a car during rush hour but causing no injuries. Shocked witnesses captured the scene as debris flew across the road. In an interview with FRANCE 24, Russian opposition figure Vladimir Kara-Murza, who survived two suspected poisoning attempts and spent two and a half years in jail before being released in a 2024 prisoner swap, said Russian President Vladimir Putin was "not only a dictator" but "also a murderer in a very direct and literal sense of this term". The group's mission is to take over investigations from journalists who can no longer carry on, either because of extreme intimidation or because they have actually been killed over their stories. Election results in Honduras have been stalled for over 24 hours, sparking protests in the capital after the president called for the vote to be annulled, alleging fraud. Bulgaria’s prime minister announced on Thursday that his government was resigning after less than a year in office, bowing to sustained anti-graft protests that had intensified in recent weeks.

Yodelling was added to UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, at a meeting in New Delhi. "As the emblematic song of Switzerland, yodelling encompasses a wide variety of artistic expressions and is deeply rooted in the population," the Swiss culture ministry said. He stressed Cambodia’s openness to diplomatic dialogue and mediation, welcoming international efforts, including those from US President Donald Trump. However, Yara pointed out that, from Cambodia’s perspective, the root cause lies in Thailand’s actions, particularly its use of a unilateral map to fuel public misperceptions. He also denied the use of landmines at the border.

Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in Gaza have faced severe flooding in recent days, with heavy rain, strong winds and flash floods expected to continue.
