London Fashion Week may have just ended, Milan Fashion Week is only just kicking off, with our favourite designers from Prada to Fendi, Armani to Versace showing their spring/summer 20 collections.

Fendi was a boho dream come true
It was perhaps fitting for Silvia Venturini Fendi’s first show since the death of Karl Lagerfeld, to look to the 60s for inspiration, since that’s when the fashion legend started collaborating with the brand. Models walked down the aisle to the tune of Let The Sunshine In, dressed in retro floral dresses, crochet separates and suits with oversized collars.
Furla introduced a new logo and see-now buy-now collection
It’s all change over at Furla. The brand unveiled a chic new logo, designed to represent an archway – a door that leads to the new Furla world of openness, inclusivity and joy. Most if its SS20 presentation, which included paired-back styles in pastel shades as well as statement pieces in chain and floral prints, was also available to buy now.
Founder Giovanna Furlanetto told me, ‘When you see something you like, you want it immediately. In probably 24 hours, people will have seen that we have a new logo and look for the bags in their nearest store. We want to have at least part of the collection for immediate delivery every season, for our customers who want it now. Everything is changing, and we are keeping up with it.’
Casadei launched a sustainable collection
CASADEI showcased a brand new Artisanal collection, developed with the Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI), which includes four styles using fabrics woven by women in Burkina Faso – one of the biggest producers of African cotton and the shoes feature a variety of textures, fabrics and colour.
Prada went back to basics
Miuccia Prada kicked off Milan Fashion Week with a collection that had both style and substance, as the designer not only wanted to focus on timeless and sustainable pieces, but also on simplicity and ‘personal style’. Stand-out looks included knitted pencil skirts, 70s style suits and bucket hats which appeared to have been made with off-cuts from the collection – fitting for a brand that has recently pledged to be more sustainable.
Max Mara redefined the Bond girl
Citing Killing Eve and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s script for the new Bond movie, Max Mara served up a collection worthy of the chicest female spy, and certainly not in the sexy and impractical Bond girl kind of way. Bella, Gigi, Kaia and Joan strutted down the catwalk in a series sharp-shouldered three piece suits, pastel trenches, and yes, a few slinky dresses too – but with tough looking braces, because you never know when you’ll have to make a swift escape by jumping on a helicopter.
Emporio Armani walked on air
There were plenty of vaporous tulle dresses, shimmering sequin separates, and fluid duster coats, all in airy shaded of grieve, blues and pink. Effortlessly feminine and crisp.
