Campus Watch: Fast start for Columbia grad Kevin Smith

The Bryant senior scored six goals on just eight shots to lead the Bulldogs to a 17-5 victory over the Siena women's lacrosse team on March 22 in Smithfield, R.I.

Senior Maddy Smith of Menands (Shaker High) is starting on defense and has 11 ground balls, five draw controls and 13 caused turnovers.

The senior co-captain is leading the Cortland softball team with a .378 batting average.

Shade, a Bethlehem High graduate, has 17 hits in 45 at-bats with five doubles, two runs scored and 12 RBIs.

Rathwell, a Guilderland High graduate, hit .381 with six RBIs in seven games and also notched a 3.44 earned-run average with 12 strikeouts in 181/3 innings.

In 24 innings, she's given up 47 hits and 27 runs (17 earned) with five walks and 12 strikeouts.

Burek, a Rensselaer High graduate, pitched a seven-inning complete game one-hitter with seven strikeouts in a 7-0 victory over Penn State-Behrend on March 5 in Fort Pierce, Fla.

On March 19, Burek pitched 51/3 innings in relief and gave up two hits and no runs while walking two and striking out seven in a 3-2, 10-inning victory over St. John Fisher.
