Golden Globes: ‘Black-ish’ Star Tracee Ellis Ross Dedicates Win to ‘Colorful People’
“Black-ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross won big at the Golden Globes on Sunday, dedicating her win to “colorful people.”
“This is for all of the women, women of color, and colorful people, whose stories, ideas, thoughts, are not always considered worthy and valid and important,” Ross said, while while accepting the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
“But I want you to know that I see you,” she continued. “We see you. It is an honor to be on this show, ‘black-ish,’ to continue expanding the way we are seen and known, and to show the magic and the beauty and the sameness of a story and stories that are outside of where the industry usually looks.

Ross concluded by thanking her parents and siblings. “I don’t know who else there is other than the amazing people who have brought me here in my career. It’s nice at 44. i like it here.”
This was Ross’ first Golden Globe nomination, and now first win. Her competition was: Issa Rae for “Insecure;” Rachel Bloom for “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend;” Julia Louis-Dreyfus for “Veep;” Sarah Jessica Parker for “Divorce;” and Gina Rodriguez for “Jane the Virgin.”
She was previously nominated for an Emmy in 2016 for her role on “black-ish,” but lost out to Louis-Dreyfus for “Veep.”
