Any concessions on Nagorno-Karabakh out of question after work done – Garnik Isagulyan
Chairman of the National Security party, Advisor to the Nagorno-Karabakh Permanent Representation in Armenia Garnik Isagulyan told reporters on Tuesday about his recent visit to Nagorno-Karabakh, where he saw restoration work done since the April hostilities.
“I can say rather serious work has been done since April to fortify the defenses, re-equip and introduce modern technologies,” Mr Isagulyan said.
He points out a need to inform both Armenia’s population and the Armenian Diaspora of the work done.
“The Nagorno-Karabakh people see it in their everyday life. The Nagorno-Karabakh president makes weekly trips to borderline regions, where new housing and school and kindergarten construction projects are under way. Rather serious work is in progress,” Mr Isagulyan said.
A new Yerevan-Stepanakert highway has been constructed.
He does not see any sense in concessions on Nagorno-Karabakh on Armenia’s part after such tremendous work has been done.
With respect to Armenian citizens seeking asylum in Azerbaijan, Mr Isagulyan said:
“Everything is much freer in Armenia than it is being presented. Our authorities are tolerant in many respects. I wound not tolerate, but our authorities are tolerant.”
They [the asylum-seekers] enjoyed freedom, Mr Isagulyan said alluding to the fact that the Armenian citizens seeking asylum in Azerbaijan lived on grants and now stop at nothing.
