Armenian Catholicos meets with Russian patriarch in Moscow
A delegation led by Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II on Tuesday had a meeting with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow.
Conveying his best wishes to the Russian church leader (who is celebrating his 70th birthday anniversary this year), the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church extended his solidarity to the Christians in the country and around the globe, making calls for patience and tolerance to the increased tensions in the Middle East.
He also extended his gratitude to the Russian church for a permanent care of, and attention to, the local Armenians and the Armenian Diocese, says a press release by the Mother See of St Echmiadzin.
The Moscow patriarch, for his part, thanked the Catholicos and his delegation for the visit, highly praising the two peoples’ historical past, which he said continues strengthening and flourishing also today. Admitting that the Russian-Armenian relations had both difficult moments and heroic chapters, Patriarch Kirll said that the brotherly relations helped the two countries (now independent republics) to shape a solid brotherhood, preserving the spirit of the past.
