The station was partially destroyed and a part of the termimal roof appeared to have collapsed.
Bella Dinh-Zarr, the vice-chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), provided a very brief update on the crash from Washington DC.
While the federal agency is investigating the cause of the crash, passengers said the train as going ‘at full force’ and didn’t slow down.
Larson Offengenden, the transit worker, described the incident: “I heard a bomb-like explosion… then the train was right in front of me. It was chaotic. It was pretty horrifying.
The lights went out and a few people screamed. I was sitting but I couldn’t see the window. I didn’t notice that the train was going at an accelerated pace. It was just going.
Multiple people were injuried
Now, looking back, I guess it didn’t slow down. It definitely didn’t slow down. There was no brakes. All of a sudden, it just crashed.
Something happened obviously. It’s the same feeling as when you get in a car crash. The train’s conductor told everyone there was a crash, and said if you’re hurt, stay in the train.
