Republican Party planning key meeting in November – spokesperson
A spokesperson for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) said Thursday that the governing political force is scheduling a congress on November 26 to address a range of key issues ahead of the May 2017 parliamentary polls.
“It isn’t going to be a pre-electoral event; it will be a kind of reporting meeting," Eduard Sharmazanov told reporters after the session of the RPA executive body.
“We will later embark on the preparations for the parliamentary polls. The regular congress will be of pivotal importance for the Republican. I do not rule out the possibility of changes in the governing board,” he said, describing their party as a “living body” that needs changes at times.
Sharmazanov added that today’s meeting, chaired by President Serzh Sargsyan, focused on the elections to the local government bodies and the Republican candidates’ chances of success.
