Nalbandian suggests bringing Baku to account
According to Armenian MFA, Minister Nalbandian made this statement during his speech at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University.
“Strengthening of trust is another important platform greatly supported by the international mediators, particularly after the developments of this April. Restoration of trust towards the peaceful settlement of the conflict requires creating conditions for prevention of use of force and advance of the peaceful settlement process,” Edward Nalbandian said.
He reminded that this was the main goal of the Vienna and St. Petersburg summits, and stressed the necessity of implementation of the reached agreements.
“Undoubtedly, the party which violates the ceasefire regime, the party that rejects efforts of building trust and offers from the mediators should be brought to account. Otherwise the atmosphere of impunity will facilitate the continuation of destabilizing policy,” Edward Nalbandian said.
According to him, the people of Nagorno-Karabakh strive for the freedom of democratic self-government based on the principle of self-determination.
“This right is stated in the Charter of the United Nations and many other international documents. The tangible settlement of the NK conflict takes place in ballots and not bullets,” Edward Nalbandian said.
