Nigeria say they have the cash to complete Zambia World Cup qualifier fixture
September 29 – The cash-strapped Nigerian Football Federation has dismissed reports that it is too broke to send a team to Zambia for a forthcoming World Cup qualifier.
The teams are due to clash on October 9 as they push to qualify for the 2018 finals in Russia.
Reports quoted Nigeria’s Guardian newspaper as saying the federation, which is constantly embroiled in financial difficulty, is trying to raise $270,000 in sponsorship order to charter a plane.
