The group has also been carrying out protest in an agitation for independent Biafra state although President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted that the unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable.
Vanguard reports that the chief of defence staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin warned IPOB members to desist or face the wrath of security operatives.
He also extended the same warning to militants who have been terrorising the Niger Delta region to stop or will be dealt with.
He gave this vow on Tuesday, September 20 shortly after declaring open the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the Chief of Army Staff Conference in Makurdi in Benue.
He said: “We will use all that we have on any person or group that goes contrary to this. We are using this opportunity to appeal and even warn all those, who are responsible for sabotage of critical infrastructure to channel their energy to developmental issues for the nation.
“And even those, who are also clamouring for secession, I think I want to advise them to channel their effort toward the development of the nation.
