The former governor of Ekiti said the APC was elected to do the impossible but that the party can only contribute its quota to national development.
He said if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in power now, the economic situation would be worse.
He said Nigerians had a right to expect things from the federal government but magic would not ork.
“The economy was traumatised by a government whose only agenda was to win another round (of elections). Therefore, everything that they could put into trying to win a second round, even bastardising the economy, was done and we are all here.
“The reality on ground is that, if the previous government were (still) in power by now, Nigeria would have virtually packed up, maybe many of us would have become refugees by now.

“Yes, we are elected to do the impossible; we will do our best. I just want to plead that people should give us more realistic expectations.”
Oni also accused some unnamed politicians, whom he described as “money bags,” of sponsoring criminals under the guise of herdsmen to destabilise the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Meanwhile, Governor Rochas Okorocha admitted that the economy is in such a terrible state that the government needs to first carry out emergency resuscitation measures. This, he said, can only be done with all Nigerians fully on board.
