8 photos that show that Oby Ezekwesili will not give up on BBOG
Oby Ezekwesili has made a mark on the hearts of many Nigerians. Who would have thought a chartered accountant would decide to take such a stand for human rights, and there by rise to become an international figure?
It all started back in March 2014, when she criticized defecting governors and participated actively in starting the viral Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign online and offline.
She must have touched some nerves, because as she prepared to board a British Airways flight to London to appear on the BBC programme Hard Talk in July 2014, she was detained by Nigeria’s secret service, the SSS, who also seized her passport. She was later released that morning.
Since then she has been a voice for the kidnapped girls, leading march after march, visit after visit. Many have insinuated that she had political motives, which she has several times denied.
About one hour ago, pictures surfaced of the most recent march for the BBOG campaign, she tweeted:
“In SILENCE, We @BBOG_Nigeria marched for the 3rd time in last 8DAYS to Mr President to say: DECIDE NOW! ACT NOW!!”
Although denied access into the Aso Rock villa, she sat on the bare floor with other protesters to vent their grievances.

The protests and meetings of the BBOG groups happen all over the world, and even though, today, August 30 is Day 869, they have not relented in marching.
On Day 866, even under the rain, Oby Ezekwesili and others from the BBOG group, kept up the shout for the government to bring the Chibok girls home.
She has also been interviewed on local and international media on the topic of the Chibok girls and her stance on the issue. And whenever she speaks on the topic, she has shown that her feelings are very much involved. Here is a typical picture:
And when the most recent video, showing the Chibok girls was released by Boko Haram she visited the affected parents, sat with them as they identified their children and consoled them.
The Chibok parents recently boycotted the BBOG march, saying:
“All we want is our missing daughters and we are willing to work with anybody who will help us find our daughters,” he said, explaining that they did not want to antagonise the government which is in the best position to help them find their missing daughters.
We do not want to do anything that the government will not be happy about, we are not after any organisation that is against any party or religion, and we are supporting the federal government to help us release our girls.”
Oby Ezekwesili has still shown that she sympathizes with the grieving parents.
