Lawyer: Sergey Mironov may leave territory of Armenia on August 31
Russian citizen Sergey Mironov, who was detained in Yerevan upon the US request, may leave the territory of Armenia on August 31, Mironov's lawyer Karen Nersisyan has told an ArmInfo correspondent.
"Mironov has a ticket for August 31. It will become clear today whether my client will be able to leave the territory of Armenia or not. For now, he has no restrictions in movement," Nersisyan says.
He notes that in case Mironov leaves for Russia, all the documents of the criminal case will be transferred to the Russia side and the investigation will be continued in Russia.
To recall, Russian citizen Sergey Mironov, 30, was detained at Zvartnots international airport in Armenia on August 26. According to the police, he has been on the international wanted list upon the US request since 11 May 2016. The US law-enforcers charge Mironov with arms trafficking and money laundering.
On August 29, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan rejected the prosecutor's motion on temporary arrest of Mironov at the US request. According to the Russian mass media, the law enforcement bodies of Russia have not received any instructions on detention of their citizen either from the USA or from Interpol. Russian politicians consider that the US demand from Armenia to extradite the Russian citizen runs counter to international standards.
