This GOP congressman says his party is incapable of nominating an 'electable' presidential candidate

It's not just Democrats who believe the GOP has no plausibly electable candidate in the presidential race. Rep. Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.) said Tuesday that he thinks the Republican Party has gotten so wrapped up in its "extreme" members that it has completely ruined its chances of winning the White House. "The Republican Party is not capable of nominating anyone who is electable nationally," Hanna told New York newspaper The Daily Star.

Hanna, who already tends to be an outlier in the party as he supports same-sex marriage and opposes certain anti-abortion measures, admits he couldn't even bring himself to vote in Tuesday's New York primary because he "can't support a candidate who doesn't support women's health care."

"I think the orthodoxy of the Republican Party is really hurting the party and pushing it to the extreme," Hanna said. "These are people I never imagined would gain national prominence, and yet here they are."
