Two and a half thousand people with disabilities registered as job seekers in Armenia
The overall number of unemployed people registered at regional employment centers increased by 16.4% in 2015 to 76,700 people, he said.
"We will pay special attention to the observance of quotas designed for the employment of persons with disabilities. The ministry has fulfilled the requirements for quotas and will continue to comply with them. If I am not mistaken, thirteen people with disabilities are employed now by the ministry", Asatryan said.
The minister also spoke about a special program called ‘Life’ developed to improve the living standards of people with disabilities through employment.
"The Armenian government attaches great importance to ensuring equal opportunities in education and employment for all," Asatryan said.
The ‘Life’ program has been running in Armenia since 2012. As part of this program 543 people have been provided with permanent jobs, conditions for inclusive education were created in 44 secondary specialized educational institutions and 930 young people with disabilities received vocational training.
According to official data, there are 200,177 people in the country with various disabilities.-0-
