The New Year has recorded quite a number of deaths in the Nigerian movie industry. As the industry is yet to recover from the shock of the untimely death of its two members Sikiru Adeshins (Arakangudu), and veteran Nollywood actor Mike Odiachi, the death of shakirudeen Olakunle Akindele was also recorded.
According to SaharaWeekly, on Wednesday, February 17, 34-year old Olakunle Akindele was reported to have died from a strange attack and according to Islamic rites the fast rising actor was buried the next day Thursday, February 18.

Olakunle who was survived by aged parents,siblings and a wife and son based in the United Kingdom (UK), played the role of Jamo, a prominent character in civilian barracks, a comedy series by mega creations, Olakunle also played the role of Olumegbon, Olofin’s first son in the multi million naira epic drama on history of Lagos, Eko the blessing of Olofin.
He died just as things were beginning to fall into place for him. Olakunle who just finalized his plans of relocating to UK to re-unite with his wife and two year old son after four years of seeking of a visa.
However his colleagues are planning a candle light procession for the late Olakunle Akindele, according to the planner of the event Olawale Kosemani (Easy), a production manager and producer, he disclosed that he would make all the efforts of late Olakunle remain relevant in the movie industry.
