– The pro-Biafra group said Nnamdi Kanu was still in detention because of Buhari’s advisers
– IPOB spokesman stated Buhari was being ‘deceived’
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said President Muhammadu Buhari is surrounded with bad advisers, which is why he has refused to release their leader and Radio Biafra director, Nnamdi Kanu.

Emma Powerful, the media and publicity officer of IPOB said Buhari’s advisers were deceiving him, Vanguard reports.
According to him, prominent Nigerians who are meant to advise him have gone mute because they want his government to fail.

Speaking in Nnewi after a meeting to strategise on how to avert future confrontations with security operatives, Powerful said: “If they actually want Buhari to succeed in his government, they should have advised him that there is no gain in further detaining Mr. Kanu because the resolve to actualize Biafra grows with each day Kanu stays in prison.”
He wondered the type of advisers President Buhari was surrounding himself with, if they were the ones telling him to resolve to fight everybody in Nigeria and also to continue killing innocent IPOB and other Biafra agitators.
“We sometimes pause and pity the man because his advisers are not telling him the truth. If he has decided to exterminate this hated ethnic group, then he should wake up from his slumber.
“How can Buhari’s APC government be killing innocent, armless and non-violent agitators on daily basis and he is keeping quiet? From who do the army, police and other security agencies take orders from? They should not push us to the wall. We have been warning that our leaders should be released without further delay,” the IPOB spokesman said.
IPOB called on Buhari to release their leader in detention.

The IPOB leader was arrested in October 2015 by security operatives. He has been in detention ever since, despite court orders that he should be released. He has been remanded in Kuje prison in Abuja and he has been appearing in court from there.
Kanu’s detention has continued to spark both negative and positive reactions.
The IPOB accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of using Kuje prison to intimidate Kanu and also making his life difficult by denying him food, newspapers and toiletries and keeping him in an air-tight room.
On Monday, another pro-Biafra group, the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB) accused the Buhari led Nigeria government of being unfair and deceptive on the much publicized and clamored dialogue on the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
