Benue South poll: Mark in early lead, wins his polling unit (Unofficial Results)
– Senator David Mark, the PDP candidate for Benue South senatorial district is said to be in early lead according to unofficial results from polling units
– He has successfully wins his polling unit with 150 votes
– Mark had said immediately after casting his votes that he was confident that his constituents will re-elect him for the fifth time
Early unofficial results have favoured the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and the immediate past Senate president, David Mark against his main rival, David Onjeh, of the All Progressives Congress, at the ongoing Benue South Senatorial district re-run election.

Mark has reportedly won his polling unit with 150 votes against 37 votes of Onjeh in the VIP1, Otukpo Club, and Township ward.
Also, in another polling unit, VIP II, Mark polled 97 to edge out Onjeh with just 19 votes.

Mark speaking minutes after casting his vote at Otukpo Town East said that he is confident his constituents will vote him back to the Senate for the fifth time.
He said: “Our people have resolved to return me back. They have decided that no external forces can come in between us in Zone C (Benue South).
“We call on our supporters to maintain law and order while the election lasts.”
The former Senate president was accompanied to his polling unit his friend, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, younger brother, Igoche Mark and supporters.
However, there are reports of voter’s apathy in the ongoing poll as most places visited showed low voters turnout.
According to a presiding officer of a polling booth visited, a corps member, said that he had registered about 1275 voters but only 120 people have come out to cast their votes.

Meanwhile, the minister of agriculture and rural development, Audu Ogbe, could not cast his vote at his polling unit in Efugo area of the state following his alleged inability to find his permanent voter card.
He has to leave his polling out of frustration following his inability to perform his civic duty, Daily Post reports.
The minister had earlier called on the people of Benue South senatorial to maintain law and order during and after the election.
