Political scientist assumes: Behind Armenia, neighboring countries are seeking to establish control over Armenian railways
ArmInfo.Armenian political scientist Karen Igityan assumes that behind Armenia's back, neighboring countries are discussing options for establishing control over Armenian railways.
As the expert mentioned on his Facebook page, Azerbaijan is currently seeking to establish control over Armenia's Syunik route through American investment funds. "Now, Azerbaijan is planning to establish control over Armenia's strategic infrastructure as well," Igityan believes.
The political scientist clarified that this would be achieved, as with the Trump route (TRIPP), through a proxy (that is, involving a third party - ed.). In this regard, Igityan noted that during his official visit to Georgia, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing the importance of the Middle Corridor, stated that "during the meeting with the Georgian side, they exchanged views on new investment projects for both Azerbaijan and Georgia, and joint investments in third countries, including Armenia, at some point in the future.
The political scientist continued that upon returning to Baku, Aliyev met with the ministers of foreign affairs and transport of Kazakhstan. In this regard, he recalled that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had suggested Kazakhstan as a country to which Russia could give the concession to manage Armenia's railways. "If tomorrow a Georgian or Georgian-Kazakh organization lays claim to the concession to manage Armenia's railways, don't be surprised. This is another step by Baku to establish a so- called 'Western Azerbaijan' in Armenia's place, while Pashinyan talks about sovereignty," the expert concluded.
