David Minasyan`s classmates ask Prosecutor General to assist in changing his pretrial detention
ArmInfo.Classmates of David Minasyan, who was placed under a two-month arrest following an incident involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, are asking Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan to help secure their classmate's release due to his serious health issues.
Minasyan's classmates, along with his parents, came to the building of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia to deliver a letter to Vardapetyan. They were also joined by the student's teachers and concerned citizens.
Before submitting the letter to the Prosecutor General's Office, they read it aloud. The letter notes that David Minasyan's life and health are in danger, and therefore he must be under constant medical supervision. "In this situation, the arrest imposed on him is an extremely harsh and disproportionate measure from a human perspective. We believe that safeguarding of human life and health should take precedence in such circumstances, " the letter states.
It also recalls that Minasyan is a conscientious, educated, and responsible student, always distinguished by positive behavior, a serious attitude toward his studies, and respect for others.
"We are confident that David Minasyan poses no threat to society and deserves fair and humane treatment. We ask that you reconsider the measure of restraint imposed on David and facilitate his release, taking into account his health and ensuring compliance with the principles of justice and the law," the statement reads.
