Mikael Minasyan: Kocharyan and Pashinyan teams have led Armenia towards catastrophe since 2021
ArmInfo. Mikael Minasyan, former Armenian Ambassador to the Holy See and son-in-law of the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, asserts that all his mistakes are purely human, unlike those who supported and continue to support Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan.
" I didn't surrender my homeland like Nikolists; nor did I create a fertile geopolitical ground for revolution like Kocharyan's supporters. In the summer of 2020, when everyone was celebrating the 'victory in the heroic July battle' and revolutionary euphoria was at its peak, I tried to awake Armenians to an impending catastrophe in an uncomfortable and very alien format. The 'kitchen' format was a mistake -attention should have been directed to as many people as possible, to talk to them. It was difficult, but everyone chooses their own path," Minasyan wrote on his Facebook page.
"The accusers are the ones who stood next to Nikol and blocked the streets. These same people are now eagerly searching for those who helped bring Nikol to power. Look at my background, you will not find Nikol's parents and breadwinners mentioned. In 2020, I spoke about everything with facts: about old AK assault rifles bought in Jordan at ten times the market price, about SU-26 self-propelled artillery units without missiles, which the revolutionaries presented as evidence of closing the "shameful page of weapons of the 80s." I tried to warn people caught up in revolutionary euphoria that these deals are a bluff that will cost thousands of lives, since the slogan "Artsakh is Armenia and that's it" had already been heard, negotiations had failed, and a countdown had begun. Six years have passed since 2020. During these years, tragic and bloody events have occurred one after another: defeat in a treacherous war, the final capitulation of Artsakh, the decline of a thousand-year-old civilization of Artsakh, the surrender of the interstate road in Goris, the loss of positions in Syunik and Jermuk, and the surrender of villages in Tavush. The list goes on.
Against the backdrop of these great tragedies, in 2021, Nikol and his supporters were legitimized and revived, which finally resolved the Karabakh issue. The political landscape was divided between Kocharyan's and Nikol's supporters, and because of this split, the vast majority of people "depoliticized" themselves, so as not to have to choose between these two unfavorable options. Two people benefited from this split: one convinced the Armenian people that, no matter what, they would not consider themselves guilty of everything that had happened, and the other, after the election failure, declared there was no prize; those who did not make it to the National Assembly had lost. The latter then essentially disappeared, encouraging and funding the hired labor of people living in Armenia and Russia to conceal their guilt, or rather, their inability, in an aggressive search for the guilty. In parliament, they talk about everything, have heated discussions, push each other, go on joint business trips, have fun in Europe, and give each other bonuses. They no longer even talk about Artsakh, the Armenians of Artsakh, the prisoners in Baku, or existential threats. They remain silent about all of this," Minasyan believes.
He noted that supporters of both Nikol Pashinyan and Robert Kocharyan, as well as their puppets, without giving each other a chance to speak out, are spreading an episode from six years ago, taken out of context, distorting, manipulating, and lying, claiming that Minasyan allegedly gave an envelope to Nikol Pashinyan and funded his team.
Minasyan concluded by stating that while he takes responsibility for his personal mistakes, he refuses to engage in the "conspiracies" and "manipulations" of the two dominant political poles. He warned that the collaboration between the Kocharyan and Pashinyan camps since 2021 continues to doom the country to new disasters as they "step on the same old familiar rakes.
