Vijay Varma opens up about battling DEPRESSION during lockdown, REVEALS Ira Khan gave him...: 'I would have...'
Bollywood star Vijay Varma requires no introduction. He achieved significant fame with the 2019 movie Gully Boy and later secured a series of promising ventures. Yet, when all activities halted during the lockdown, he became a victim of depression. Aamir Khan's daughter, Ira Khan, along with his co-star, Gulshan Devaiah, assisted him in getting through it.
During a recent discussion with Rhea Chakraborty, Vijay Varma reflected on his time of depression. The actor mentioned, "I was all alone in an apartment in Mumbai. Luckily, I had a small terrace. I could see the sky and be surrounded by natural elements. Otherwise, I would have gone mad. To be honest, I did."
Ayra and Gulshan formed a close-knit support network...
Vijay Varma went on, "And then one day I realised why I wasn't able to move from my couch for four days? What was happening? Then Ira and Gulshan were like a small support system for me. Ira was assisting on Daadar, and we all became good friends during the shoot. We would video call each other on Zoom, have dinner. That was our only circle. But my condition was getting worse. Ira was the first one to say, 'Vijay, I think you should start moving a little.'
Vijay Varma, who couldn't shift, stated, "Finally, I spoke to a therapist because I couldn't move. I met with him on Zoom and was diagnosed with stress and depression. It was quite serious at the time. He said if it was under control, it would be fine; otherwise, we'd consider medication. I said, 'I'll see.'" Vijay states that therapy and yoga have improved matters considerably.
Ira Khan helped him overcome depression
Vijay Varma further explains, "It was Ira who said, 'Vijay, you need to start walking.' She enrolled me in Zoom classes and trained me. She said therapy isn't bad. You should definitely try therapy."
