Armenia and Iran discussed ways to improve transport connectivity

YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. Armenian and Iranian officials discussed Monday ways to improve transport connectivity between the countries at a meeting hosted by Armenia's Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.br/pp
The Iranian officials were led by Mohammad Hossein Soofi, a senior official from the Iranian Departments of Automobile Policy, Licensing and Permits and Road Policy./pp
Hossein Soofi presented the Iranian side’s approaches and expressed hope that the two countries, by ratifying a number of international documents, will be able to facilitate the entry and exit procedures./pp
The representatives of the Armenian ministry presented the priorities of the Armenian government in this area, spoke in detail about the strategic importance of the investment project of the North-South highway corridor. During the meeting other issues of interest to the sides were also discussed./pp
Earlier, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said that the trade turnover between Armenia and Iran may reach $1 billion in 2023./pp
In late October 2023 Armenia and Iran signed today an agreement on the repair of Agarak-Vardanidzor road section (about 21 km) and construction of a road from Vardanidzor to tunnel exit (about 11 km) as part of the 4th tranche of a project to build North-South transport corridor.-0-/p
