Solving long-standing, sensitive conflicts like one in Nagorno-Karabakh smooth process "on the ground" - Russian diplomat
ArmInfo.Solving such long-standing and sensitive conflicts as the one in Nagorno-Karabakh is not a smooth process "on the ground," Russian Deputy FM Mikhakil Galuzin said in an interview with Izvestiya.
According to him, it was due to Russian President Vladimir Putin's efforts that the violent conflict was resolved. The trilateral statement of November 9 provides for a ceasefire, Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization and deployment of peacekeeping troops.
"The point is that through dialogue the parties progress in four main directions: unblocking the region's transport and economic links, a dialogue to sign an Armenian-Azerbaijani peace agreement, border delimitation and establishment of parliamentary and public ties, without which full-fledged normalization is difficult to imagine. All the principles were formulated and put into practice only due to the mediation of Russian and its president. It is a serious achievement in itself," Mr Galuzin said.
