Safari names baby llama after UFC star Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey proved at UFC 190 that she’s a huge star in Brazil, and she's trending in the country to this day.
Five weeks after knocking out Brazilian bantamweight Bethe Correia at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, undefeated 135-pound champion Rousey entered an unusual contest in Mangaratiba, a municipality located 60 miles away from Rio.
A llama was born at the Portobello Resort and Safari, one of the top hotels in the state, and the name of the animal would be selected by the guests over the weekend.
"Usually when an animal is born at the Portobello safari, an animal which has a slightly longer gestation, we select the two most talked names in that period as a tribute," a Portobello official explained to MMAFighting.com. "In this case, Ronda was the name chosen by guests."
According to the hotel, 80 percent of the guests preferred Ronda over Angel, the name of a popular soap opera character in Brazil.
