All the ‘Pieces’ fit in new CBS comedy
The series, created by Justin Adler, who pens the scripts with Aaron Kaplan, focuses on various generations of the Short family, headed by John (Brolin) and Joan (Wiest), with their children Greg (Colin Hanks) and his wife, Jen (Zoe Lister-Jones), middle child Matt Short (Thomas Sadowski) dating Colleen (Angelique Cabral), and eldest child, Heather (Betsy Brandt), married to Tim (Dan Bakkedahl), a doctor.
Next, we’re in the delivery room as Jen gives birth to her first child and discovers the “miracle of childbirth” is pretty messy, even after the bundle of joy is safely nestled in her daddy’s arms.
Dad wants to make sure he’s prepared and speaks way too candidly about his own sexual adventures in college for Tyler’s taste.
In a world where attention spans are short in general and often nonexistent when it comes to watching a TV show, the device works and the pieces fit very well.
