Tech-hardware stocks least battered amid carnage in equities
As U.S. stocks saw a fourth day of losses, the least brutalized subsector on the S&P 500 Index Friday was technology hardware storage and peripherals, buoyed by Hewlett-Packard Co. shares. H-P shares rose 2.6% as the best performers on the S&P 500 Friday, with shares of Seagate Technology PLC and Western Digital Corp. posting slight gains. Those gains countered Apple Inc.'s 4% drag on the subsector. The worst performing S&P 500 subsector was airlines, with shares of American Airlines Group Inc. , Delta Air Lines Inc. , and Southwest Airlines Co. down 3% to 5%.
