S.J. Quakes to induct Cannon into Hall of Fame
Former Earthquakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon will be inducted into San Jose’s Hall of Fame during halftime of Saturday night’s game against defending MLS champion Seattle at Avaya Stadium.
“I owe the fans everything, I really do,” said Cannon, who helped the Quakes win their first MLS Cup in 2001.
Cannon attended St. Francis High School-Mountain View and finished his collegiate career at Santa Clara (1995-97).
“Joe stands out in any room you walk into,” said former teammate Landon Donovan in a video released by the team.
When I first came to the Earthquakes, Joe was one of the people that made me understand what this club was about.
Cannon, who was named MLS goalkeeper of the year in 2002, also played for the Colorado Rapids and L.A. Galaxy before retuning to the Quakes from 2008-10.
