Meet the Nigerian who broke Guinness World Record in Bayelsa

Some of these people have gone through hard times but have refused to let the circumstance in which they have found themselves to put them down.
It is exciting to know that Nigerians are taking on tasks that would help them gain a worldwide recognition.
This could be seen through the actions of Tonye Solomon who is popularly known as ‘D-boy’. The 28-year-old man who hails from Bayelsa has been able to break the Guinness world record by walking a distance of fifty-two kilometres with the ball balanced on his head.
Achieving this feat had always been Solomon’s dreams. Now he would have his name written as the winner of the category “The greatest distance travelled with the football balanced on the head”. He attempted doing this sometimes last month but was unable to complete the task when it started to rain.
He had walked a distance of thirty-eight kilometres out of the supposed sixty kilometres when it started to pour last month. However, he did not allow this incident to deter him from achieving his goals as he tried doing the walk again this month.
Luck finally smiled on him when he walked a distance of fifty-two kilometres with the ball balanced on his head. He dethroned Chinedu Harrison, the current title holder who is also a Nigerian.
Harrison had also dethroned Naib Singh, an Indian soldier when he walked a distance of 48.04 kilometres in six hours fifteen minutes.
Solomon started his own journey with the ball on his head from Amassoma town and ended at the peace park at Yenagoa where the finishing line was drawn.

Lots of people gathered to cheer the new champion. It was a remarkable day for Solomon who had set his mind on winning.
His story will inspire millions of people across the world as it would teach them to hold on; it is important for one to be patient and determined while working towards the actualization of one’s dreams and goals.
