Wickedness! You won’t believe what man and his daughter did to beggars

A man and his daughter have been arraigned before a court for allegedly trying to kill some beggars who thought they were being helped.

What was supposed to be a time of giving and appreciation, turned into a time of ‘thank God i’m alive‘ as some beggars were saved from what would have probably resulted in their death on August 5.

According to reports, some beggars around Offin street in the Balogun area of Lagos Island, accepted what they thought was an offer of kindness, when 18-year-old Salamat Yusuf gave them some bean cakes (akara). On opening up the akara to eat, one of the beggars reportedly saw a shiny needle inside one of the akara balls he was about to eat.

When confronted, Salamat said she received the akara from her father Mohammed Yusuf, who had asked her to distribute them.

When brought before the Tinubu Magistrate court, the father and daughter duo pleaded “not guilty” to the two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted murder against them.

Here’s what the prosecutor barrister Ben Ekundayo, said:.

“Mohammed and Salamat carried out the act with intent to endanger the lives of the beggars. The Muslim cleric sent his daughter to give the beggars, near the mosque, the bean-cakes, but when one of them (the beggars) opened the bean-cake, he found needles in the middle. Other beggars were notified; one of them, who knows the daughter and the school where she teaches, led them there and she was apprehended.”

The suspects have since been granted bail in the sum of N500,000, while the case has been adjourned till September 29.
