Woman critically injured when tree branch falls on her in SF park
A 36-year-old woman visiting a San Francisco park with her children suffered life-threatening injuries Friday afternoon when a large tree branch fell and hit her on the head in the North Beach neighborhood, fire officials said.
The woman was inside Washington Square with her 5- and 6-year-old children at the time of the incident, said Lt. Jonathan Baxter, a San Francisco Fire Department spokesman.
Crews estimate the tree limb weighed approximately 100 pounds and fell on the woman from a distance of about 50 feet, Baxter said.
