Police promote 16 Days of Activism
Twenty policemen and women rode around Durban to create awareness of the forthcoming 16 Days of Activism.
|||Durban - Twenty policemen and women rode from Sydenham police station to Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu to create awareness of the forthcoming 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
The SAPS Inanda Cluster held their annual sports day at the stadium on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Captain Myen Lazarus said the cyclists were greeted warmly by motorists, who hooted to show support.
“Metro police and local businessmen joined in, cycling 42 kilometres to create awareness.
The cyclists rode from the police station towards Alpine and Umgeni Roads, and crossed over into Chris Hani Road towards KwaMashu.
They took the Malandela Road exit and rode towards the stadium in high spirits
Placards with 16 Days messages were stuck on police vehicles accompanying the cyclists, he said.
