Giants’ Nori Aoki to see concussion specialist
DENVER — Left fielder Nori Aoki experienced post-concussion symptoms and will see concussion specialist Dr. Michael Collins next week in Pittsburgh.
Manager Bruce Bochy had planned to play Aoki on Saturday following a four-game break, but Aoki phoned trainer Dave Groeschner on Saturday morning and said he wasn’t feeling right.
“When I woke up this morning, my head was heavy and I was out of breath,” Aoki said. “It got worse the past two days, but looking back at it now, it started before that.”
Aoki was beaned by the Cubs’ Jake Arrieta on Aug. 9 and missed a week and a half. Since then, he has hit .200 in 50 at-bats and lost his role as an everyday player.
