“Murders, weapons and drugs”: NSC dismantles 20 criminal groups
Tengrinews.kz – The National Security Committee (NSC), together with the police and under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office, has shut down the activities of members of 20 criminal groups.
These 2025 figures were provided by the press service of the agency.
“On suspicion of committing murders, extortion, and illegal possession of drugs and weapons, more than 70 people have been detained, including individuals wanted by Kazakh and foreign law enforcement agencies. In the course of investigating the crimes committed, 30 units of firearms and 11 traumatic weapons, as well as cash, were seized,” the agency reported.
Pre-trial investigations are under way.
Earlier, the NSC reported that in 2025 the illegal activities of 895 individuals had been suppressed, 1,052 criminal cases had been opened, 969 investigations completed, and 860 case files sent to court. According to the agency, most of the identified offences involved bribery and embezzlement of budget funds.
