According to various reports, Tottenham are eyeing a summer move for Sporting Lisbon star Maxi Arajuo, who has been one of the most exciting full-backs on show in the Champions League this season.
Arajuo was Sporting’s star performer in the first leg against Arsenal on Tuesday, and that has not gone unnoticed at Spurs.
According to A BOLA, Tottenham’s scouts were in attendance at the Jose Alvalade Stadium to watch the left-back deliver a masterclass.
The report says that Spurs have been following Arajuo for ‘a long time’ and were left impressed with his latest display against their North London rivals.
The outlet claims that the Uruguayan international has also been a long-term target for Chelsea, but it is Juventus who are named as the ‘main interested party’ in the full-back ahead of the summer window.
Sporting Lisbon’s stance on Spurs target Arajuo revealed
A Bola have backed up what we have heard from other sources over the last week by revealing that the left-back has a €80m (£69m) release clause in his contract.
The website claims that Sporting are aware of the growing interest in Arajuo, but have already decided to keep the player in Lisbon for one more season.
The publication adds that it is going to take an ‘irresistible offer’ to tempt the Portuguese club to cash in on the experienced defender.
