Superman's 'Man of Tomorrow' Cast: Report Says Three Stars Screen Testing for Maxima, James Gunn Denies Rumor
The sequel to James Gunn‘s Superman has three actresses in contention to join, according to a new Deadline report!
The second Superman film in the franchise will be titled Man of Tomorrow and it will hit theaters on July 9, 2027. It is said it will begin filming soon.
The character currently being cast is said to be that of DC Universe comic book icon Maxima.
Maxima is a powerful alien queen from DC Comics and a recurring character in the orbit of Superman. She possesses immense strength and telekinetic abilities, often rivaling Superman, and was initially driven by her desire to make him her mate to produce strong offspring. Over time, she evolves from a forceful antagonist into a more complex antihero and occasional ally in the DCU world.
James himself has responded to this rumor, saying, “Deadline’s reporting is shoddy & incorrect. I’ve always thought Deadline was pretty thorough in their journalism but that’s not the case here so I’m frankly disappointed.”
