Root chandelier by Tala
Dezeen Showroom: British brand Tala took inspiration from the natural growth of trees to design the Root chandelier, which puts on organic twist on the traditional hanging light.
Crafted from solid brass with glass diffusers, the Root chandelier is based on the way trees grow, splitting and dividing over and over to form a root system or canopy of branches.
"These mysterious, elegant structures became the inspiration for the Root system," said Tala designer Dan Carpenter. "Designed to adapt to your space and grow with you, it offers a soft, delicate yet reliable centrepiece, one you can gather beneath and feel sheltered by."
The Root chandelier is offered in a choice of eight configurations involving multiple tiered arrangements, some of which lean more classical and others more modern.
The warm brass structure is crowned with milky glass diffusers that are also intended to hark back to trees, with an inverted-teardrop shape that lightly calls to mind buds growing along a branch.
The brass itself has an alluringly textured finish that honours the metal-forging processes involved in the chandelier's creation and gives each its own stamp of uniqueness.
