'Euphoria' Star Jacob Elordi Says This 2002 JRPG Classic Is His Favorite Video Game of All Time
Jacob Elordi rose to stardom with his breakout role in Euphoria, as well as the leading role in Netflix's 2025 film adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic sci-fi novel, Frankenstein. It turns out Elordi is also a gamer, and his favorite game of all time is an all-time JRPG classic, and it recently turned 24 years old.
Revealed in an interview with Josh Horowitz, Elordi was asked about his favorite video game, and his answer was Kingdom Hearts, originally released for the PlayStation 2 in 2002. The Square Enix and Disney crossover paved the way for action RPGs of the early-mid 2000s and has gone on to sell more than 37 million copies, as of early 2025.
Elordi didn't expand on exactly why Kingdom Hearts is his favorite game, but he has been a lifelong gamer, despite having a much busier schedule nowadays.
Elordi was recently nominated for the 2026 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of The Creature in Frankenstein.
Kingdom Hearts follows the story of Sora, a teenage boy, as he dreams of visiting other worlds. He is soon whisked away by darkness to a new world, separated from his friends, and must team up with Donald Duck and Goofy to find his friends. The game features real-time action combat and homages to both Disney films and Square Enix's popular Final Fantasy series, effectively making the series a crossover title.
Since its inception, Kingdom Hearts has spawned a massive entertainment empire, with over a dozen games. The next entry in the series, Kingdom Hearts 4, was announced back in April 2022, but there have been very few updates about the title since then.
The most recent entry in the series is Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, a rhythm spin-off title, which was released in 2020. The last mainline entry, Kingdom Hearts 3, was released in 2019.
