Iranian Drone Strikes Hit Kuwait Oil and Power Facilities
Iranian drone strikes hit oil, energy and government facilities in Kuwait, causing significant damage but no reported casualties, Kuwaiti authorities said.
Kuwaiti authorities said Iranian drone attacks struck oil, government and energy facilities in the country, causing significant material damage as regional tensions continued to rise.
Reuters reported late Saturday, citing Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, that a fire broke out at the Shuwaikh oil sector complex, which houses the Oil Ministry and the company’s headquarters, following one of the attacks.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water also said two power generation units were taken out of service after drones hit energy and water desalination facilities, disrupting part of the country’s critical infrastructure.
Kuwaiti officials said no injuries were reported in the latest attacks, despite the damage to key state and industrial sites. State media also said an office complex used by government ministries was hit in a separate strike.
The attacks mark another escalation in the widening confrontation linked to the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran, which has increasingly spilled beyond direct battle zones and into Gulf infrastructure.
Kuwait has faced repeated security incidents in recent days. Reuters previously reported that drones struck Kuwait’s Mina al-Ahmadi refinery and damaged Kuwait International Airport’s radar system, underscoring growing vulnerabilities in the country’s strategic facilities.
The attacks also come amid wider concern over the security of energy infrastructure across the Gulf, after Iranian strikes in recent weeks damaged oil and gas facilities in other regional states and heightened fears of disruption to supplies and shipping routes.
The latest strikes on Kuwait underline how the regional conflict is increasingly threatening civilian infrastructure, energy security and public services far beyond Iran’s immediate battlefield.
