Throw in quite a few declined forward passes, (especially from Iwata), to one of our forwards making a run.
Throw in a fair bit of intricate backward passing finding ever more “imaginative” ways to get it back to our keeper, along with some suicidal passes in and around our own area
Throw in also an eventual very poor cross into touch, or one that the opposition giant easily gobbles up versus our combined aerial might of Stansfield & Ducksch, and that’s about the full extent of our “gameplan”/ “threat”
Not only is it largely incredibly dull, and entirely predictable, it has been pretty, (and increasingly)unsuccessful in this league, and was equally dull, although largely successful in L1 because of the chasm in class/spend between our players and even a L1 composite team.
It is totally indefensible and it has not changed for 2 seasons. Why would it in the nightmare scenario of a 3rd?
Edit - I would add that I now find it increasingly hard to believe that Davies is prioritising “tempo” over possession. We have declined far too many forward passes over retaining possession. It’s BS for public consumption- the players are clearly coached in possession over progression
