Marcia Ann Burrs, Hallmark's Mrs. Claus, Passes Away at 85
Marcia Ann Burrs, a character actress known for playing Mrs. Claus in two fan favorite Hallmark Channel holiday films, has passed away at the age of 85. She died on March 22, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She starred as the famed fictional character in 2004’s Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus and its 2005 sequel, Meet the Santas.
She worked across TV and film for decades, having roles in Young Sheldon, Mad Men, How I Met Your Mother and Grace and Frankie in the recent past.
She is survived by her daughters and granddaughters. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Bures, who was an executive at NBC. He passed at the age of 83 in January of 2020.
Her obituary noted of her Hallmark role: “These films became seasonal favorites and cemented Marcia’s unforgettable reign as Mrs. Claus—roles she played with warmth, wit, and heart, and which delighted generations of viewers year after year.”
“Though she loved performing her favorite role was Mom—the one she cherished most. She taught her kids that life was limitless, rules were optional, and you could do anything. She lived it, she meant it, and she passed it on like a family superpower,” it continued.
