I Put HOKA's New Mach 7 to the Test. Here’s Why It’s One of the Most Versatile Trainers to Date

Hoka has officially rolled out the latest iteration of one of its most popular and versatile daily trainers. Launched earlier this week, the Mach 7 has been deemed "the gateway to everyday speed." Built for runners who want a responsive ride without switching to fancy race-day shoes, the Mach line has been a go-to for anyone seeking a versatile shoe for both easy miles and faster training sessions.
The Mach 7 sticks closely to the formula that made its predecessor model popular. It features super-critically foamed EVA for lightweight cushioning and a snappy feel underfoot, along with a creel jacquard upper designed to improve breathability. Hoka also added a refined tongue and internal gusset to help create a more secure fit while maintaining the shoe’s streamlined profile.

HOKA Mach 7 Review
From the moment you slip on the Mach 7, you immediately feel how light and springy they are. The upper is breathable while the padded tongue and internal gusset keep your foot locked in comfortably. During faster runs, the rocker and responsive EVA midsole provide an energetic ride, but it’s also soft enough to handle longer, slower runs. Think of it as something of a Swiss army knife trainer.
Lots of runners prefer a PEBA or TPU-based midsole, but the Mach 7 sticks with EVA and it works. It’s also not the widest shoe on the market, but as someone with wide feet, it didn’t feel restrictive during my test runs. Plus, the padded upper keeps your foot feeling secure and comfortable.
What sets the Mach 7 apart from the Mach 6 is admittedly subtle, but still noticeable. The improved outsole offers extra grip, giving you confidence whether you’re picking up the pace or just cruising along. Overall, it has the same versatility and feel that has made the Mach line a Hoka favorite.
